In Jesus Christ was life; and that life was the light for everyone. – John 1:4

Never see death

I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone observes My teaching [lives in accordance with My message, keeps My word], he will by no means ever see and experience death.

– John 8:51 (Amp)

The curse of our life in earth is death. In reality we spiritually die multiple deaths. We die every time we fail to fulfill the LORD’s purpose. We die every time we fail to live up to the LORD’s expectation. We die every time we stop living a wholesome life of peace and joy. Then finally comes our physical death. We not only experience multiple deaths, we device many ways for others to experience death. When we lead others away from fulfilling the LORD’s purpose and when we destroy their peace, we make them experience spiritual death. When we are spiritually dead, anything we do in this world is cursed to fail. We are fulfilling the words of the LORD, “cursed is the ground for thy sake” (Gen 3:17).

The fear of death burdens us a lot. It makes us not to enjoy a good moment in our lives. We always have a depressing feeling of the inevitability of death. Our world revolves around the inevitability of our death and the death of our loved ones. We run a life of fear and insecurity because of death. If there is no death we don’t have to even count time. Every worldly pleasure and entertainment is designed to forget this reality. But the more we drown in this world, the more we are entrenched in death!

Jesus came to us and taught us a “new and living” way. If we follow his teachings and his life style, we will not experience spiritual and physical death. Many of us appreciate Jesus and His character. We want God to forgive our sins through His sacrificial work in the cross. We want Jesus to be with us and protect us all the time. We want to receive so many things from Him and through Him. Have we ever thought about living according to His word? If you want be freed from death and its haunting influence in our lives, we should live according to His word.

Here are a few principles that Jesus taught us that will help us live a very fulfilling life that is free from any influence of death:

1. Loose this world.

  • No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. – Matthew 6:24
  • Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. – Matthew 6:19-21

2. Keep the LORD’s will as your first priority

  • For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. Mark 8:35
  • If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:26
  • Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. – Matthew 7:21

3. Love others including those who hate you

  • But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you – Matthew 5:44

4. Purify yourself

  • Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be. But we know that when He shall be revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope on Him purifies himself, even as He is pure. – 1 John 3:3

When we do the above death will not overpower us and our walk in this world will be victorious in the LORD bringing bounties of fruits for the LORD. We will lead many to the LORD and His kingdom will be alive in us.
