In Jesus Christ was life; and that life was the light for everyone. – John 1:4

My Sins

Writing about one’s sin is hard. Ecclesiastes 12:14 says “For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” In Matthew 1:21 it says: “She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus because He will save His people from their sins.” This means Jesus Christ came to this world to save us from our sins. I cannot call Him LORD if I don’t declare my sinful past and present. I am going to list the sins I was enslaved to in the past and was delivered from it by the LORD. I will also talk about the sins I am struggling with at present and working with the LORD to overcome it. The reason I want to talk about it is to let you all know who I am and also help you if you are struggling the same way. You could also help me with the sins I am struggling with that you have overcome by His grace.

Below is the list of sins I defeated by the grace of the LORD. This is as of April 2014:

  1. Lying and stretching the truth.
  2. Stealing books from the library and my friends.
  3. Using swear words and cursing others.
  4. Teasing or making jokes on others expense.
  5. Watching and reading pornographic materials.
  6. Having sexually impure thoughts and fantasies.
  7. Masturbating with sexually impure thoughts and fantasies.
  8. Hating others and having disrespect for others.

The above are shameful and awkward to tell you, but I am jubilant to say that by His grace I am done with this lot of sinful behavior. It took many years for me to get out of the above list and you will never know the kind of joy and freedom I feel now. Praise be to the LORD Who shed His precious blood for me and saved me from this devilish behavior!

I am still struggling with few more and working with the LORD to get rid of the following:

  1. Anger and impatience.
  2. Unbelief about the LORD’s power to heal my muscle weakness.
  3. Arrogance about my knowledge of the LORD and His word.
  4. Not having the courage to witness about the LORD more frequently and freely.
  5. Shouting at my wife, kids and my mother when I am angry.
  6. Calling my wife and many others as fools (aloud or in my heart).
  7. Being judgmental and prejudiced.

As I said, I can help all of you with the first list and if you have some tips on the second list speak out, and you will be blessed. That said there may be few more the Spirit of God knows about me that I am not sure about. Sin is the only problem in this life that we need to worry about. It is unfortunate that as believers we take a very casual approach to sin. If we continue in our sins, then our LORD died in vain, and all our spiritual activities are in vain. When we start believing in Jesus, we only start a journey. This trip will have to lead us to become true overcomers of sin and this world. If we adhere to the LORD and let Him help us with His sanctification process, He will not only forgive us of our sins but also deliver us from it. That is why He shed His blood on the cross. Read this in Rev 7:13-14: Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb…” Washing is needed only when the robe is dirty with all kind of sin and guilt. As believers, we ought to examine ourselves often and get with the LORD to wash us and cleanse us completely. It is very dangerous to hide our robe and leave it unclean. We cannot face the LORD with an unclean robe.
