Phillipians 2:5
In this chapter (Phillipians 2), we see the humbling spirit of Jesus. We also see the determination of Jesus to obey His Father and fulfill His will by suffering death in the cross. Our mind should also be like that. There are two kind of humbling a believer need to work on.
One kind, is humbling our heart before the Father and agreeing to obey the will of the Father. Many times we are comfortable to humble our self before people but have a hard time humbling before the Father. Many times we think we know what is good, even better that the Father Himself. We just assume that the Father will agree with us, since we are doing something that is good in our eyes. That is very dangerous. Jesus says He will do only the things that the Father shows Him to do. That is the kind of humbling the Father expects from us.
The second kind of humbling is humbling before people. In this case you will have to be careful. You cannot humble before people to compromise your determination to fulfill the will of the Father. You are humbling before people to serve people on behalf of the Father. You should be careful not to humble yourself to act in rebellion to the Fathers will. This is why we will have to have the mind of Christ.
